- It can be used as a vehicle to discuss the importance of education.
- It can help kids develop coping skills when refusing school.
- Not wanting to go to school is a universal feeling, so kids will relate to this topic.
- It utilizes lyrical and poetic storytelling.
- The illustrations are done by Mai Tran and she completely took the text to a different level with her drawings.
2. What are 5 helpful hints or tips you wish you had known before starting this publishing journey?
- Do not ever query a first draft – lol.
- Take time to preserve your mental health.
- Patience is the key to succeeding in publishing.
- Writing is truly subjective.
- Contests are not the only path to publishing.
3. What are 5 fun/quirky facts about yourself as an adult or child?
- I drink hot coffee in the morning and iced coffee in the afternoon and never deviate from this.
- I am obsessed with all things sunflowers.
- I refused school when I was a child.
- I am a fan of all Philadelphia sports.
- Hershey, PA is my happy place.
4. What are the 5 hardest things about being a writer?
- Waiting for responses.
- Rejection
- Not knowing if you are really good enough/Imposter Syndrome.
- Writer’s block
- I Want to take ALL of the craft classes and webinars. I also want to buy ALL the books from the talented writing community.
