1. What are 5 things you want people to know about your book?

Saying sorry is hard.

It takes practice.

You can get better at it.

It’s hard for me, too.

I love the illustrations.

2. What are 5 helpful hints or tips you wish you had known before starting this publishing journey?

Patience is the key.

Keep writing more books.

Read, read, read.

Find critique partners who you trust.

Don’t give up!

3. What are 5 fun/quirky facts about yourself as an adult or child?

I talk a lot to cover that I’m nervous.

I love to be in my kayak. It’s my happy place.

I hate to empty the dishwasher. The worst chore ever.

I have curly hair. When I wake up in the morning, I look like the Bride of Frankenstein.

Potato chips are my favorite food.

4. What are 5 things you learned about yourself while on the journey to publishing this book?

I can do it!

Rejection didn’t kill me.

Listen to others who know more than I do, which is a lot of people.

Edit, edit, edit. And then edit again.

Keep a good attitude.

5. What are 5 must-read picture books?

Georgie Grows a Dragon, by Emma Lazell

We Don’t Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins

Children of the Forest by Matt Myers

Finding Francois by Gus Gordon

Can’t You Sleep Little Bear by Martin Waddell

    1. Thanks for reading the blog!

  2. Love this snappy question and answer blog! A past boss once told me she would live in a chip bag if she could.. and I would agree, chips are the best aha. Glad to hear rejection didn’t kill you, because it’s certainly enemy that’s lurking around every corner… or more specially, every unopened email!

    1. Short and sweet! No one has much time so I make it easy for everyone! I identify with your email rejection comment -all too well!

As simple as some of these five answers are, they resonate for me right now!

    1. That’s what picture book authors do best- tell a story using limited words! Nailed it! Thanks for commenting!
