1. What is the premise/pitch for your book?

When concert halls were closed to the public, a Spanish artist envisioned and facilitated a concert for plants — a performance that brought music and art, nature and architecture, people and plants together in a very unusual way. This is the story of that concert.

2. What are 5 things you want people to know about your book?

  • It’s based on a real event that happened in Barcelona during the Pandemic.
  • My author tagline says I write stories of hope, music, and wonder, and this book is all three.
  • The illustrator, Natalia Bruno, hid lots of little nature characters throughout the book.
  • Adults will enjoy it as much as kids – it’s age proof!
  • It highlights the power of nature and music to help us through difficult times.

3. What helpful hints or tips can you offer fellow writers about writing, publishing, and promoting a book?

  • Writing is a team sport, and so is publishing and promoting. Get yourself an amazing team – critique group, family, friends, agent, promo group.  The more people you can surround yourself with who “get it”, the more knowledge you’ll have, the more supported you’ll feel, and the smoother the journey will be.
  • Don’t forget to add some “jam” to your PB (musicality; alluding to my PBJamz multimedia blog. You want your writing to “sing,” so add rhythm, poetic devices, refrains, and anything that will make your book a spectacular read aloud)
  • YOU are your brand. Be yourself. Be authentic. Be kind.
  • The more you honor, love, and support others on their journey, the more people will be cheering you on when it’s your turn.
  • Even if you can’t “write” every day, do SOMETHING to move your writerly life forward every single day.

4. What are 5 fun/quirky facts about yourself as an adult or child?

  • I have always loved long, swishy, swirly skirts that rustle and twirl.
  • My kitchen is decorated in a Winnie the Pooh theme.
  • I started playing trumpet in 6th grade and still play sometimes.
  • I’m a Southern girl through and through!
  • I was named after our next-door neighbor at the time I was born.

5. What did you learn about yourself while on the journey to publishing this book?

I learned to be flexible about things that don’t matter, stand my ground about things that do, and to try to be patient and trust the process – and trust myself.

Also, I learned that EVERY PHASE of the journey has joys and challenges There isn’t a magical line where suddenly things improve and challenges dissipate like clouds.  There are challenges at every phase, so we need to build our resilience and find the joy – even in the midst of challenges.

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.
