A mother who loves and is concerned for her son. wishes the world would see him how is truly is. He is capable, warm, and deeply curious. She wonders how the world will see him, and she prepares him for life to come.
2. What are 5 things you want people to know about your book?
It is really relatable and helpful for all parents and children.
It is useful for teaching children empathy and resilience and self—worth.
It shows how spirituality can help overcome obstacles.
It shows how children change their understanding of ethnic differences as they grow.
The illustrations broaden the book to be relatable to children from other marginalized groups.
3. What helpful hints or tips can you offer fellow writers about writing, publishing, and promoting a book?
Write the book of your heart in an authentic way, and you will find your audience. Keep improving your skills
4. What are 5 fun/quirky facts about yourself as an adult or child?
I have lived in many places, from a small Midwestern town to Las Vegas, NV.
Stanford University Graduate School of Education gave me an Alumni Excellence in Education Award in 2018.
The University of Redlands gave me an Alumni Career Award in 2019.
I am older and wiser than I look.
I am neurodiverse and high-functioning.
5. What did you learn about yourself while on the journey to publishing this book?
I am indeed a hard worker and that staying true to myself and authentic is the best.
